I will be singing the role of Sarastro as a guest artist in Ohio University Opera Theater‘s production of Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, May 13 and 14. This will be the first time I have been back to OU since I escaped graduated. I have conflicting feelings about the endeavor. I really thought I would never go back to that town. Although I met quite a few people there who are still good friends to this day (including my wife!), I have mostly bad memories of my college years. Oh, well. Perhaps now will be my chance to return in triumph!
Magic Flute
March 11, 2011Audition
October 17, 2010Following up on a previous post, I am pleased to announce that I have been invited to audition for the Chorus of the Metropolitan Opera. The audition is in early November. No idea when the results will be announced, though. Wish me luck!
Do you hate your job?
October 1, 2010There are days when I absolutely hate my job. I hate my managers, I hate my cow-orkers, and I hate my customers. Some days, my job is fun. I meet new people, I get compliments, I make lots of sales, everything is great. But there are some days when I just want to stab people in the throat. And, believe me, they would deserve it.
My latest foray
September 8, 2010I will soon be sending in my application to the Metropolitan Opera Chorus. If I am incredibly fortunate, I will be asked to audition. If I am even more fortunate, and I kick ass at my audition, I will be offered a contract. Here’s hoping.
Yes, I’m Still Here
June 14, 2010Okay, so here’s what’s been happening. I left Ohio State, moved in with my wife’s parents and started looking for work. Four months later, I got a job with Lowe’s, working in the garden center as a seasonal temp. After the summer, I moved to the plumbing department as a regular part-time employee. In December, I moved to the appliances department. Near the end of February, I took a position as Flooring Sales Specialist. It’s full-time, with benefits and everything. If I can avoid getting fired, it could work out for me. Time will tell.
Moving
January 25, 2009Tomorrow I will be back in Cleveland, bumming off the inlaws. Poverty sucks.
Another Xmas
December 25, 2008Here it is, Xmas again. And yet again, I am flat broke. Oh well. Same crap, different day.
The Big Sleep
August 5, 2008I got a book-on-cd from the library the other day. It was a 6-disc set of Raymond Chandler’s The Big Sleep read by Elliot Gould. I listened to the first track and decided I couldn’t possibly stand to listen to 6 discs of Elliot Gould. Bleah.
